In the 2023-2024 school year, LAKS did an Equality Tour about anti-poverty policy!

This year we started discussing school costs and anti-poverty policy. We did this with different students at various schools. We are curious about how schools deal with issues such as free school meals, combating period poverty and supporting students and their parents with the payment of school costs. This includes the voluntary parental contribution and costs for a laptop or tablet for school.

But we go further than that. We will discuss the influence of poverty on education and how we can work together towards equal education. Poverty has a negative impact on the quality of education and the ability to attend education at all. How can we work together to address these challenges and ensure an educational environment where equity is central?
